Aviation in
Oklahoma

| The state of Oklahoma, my current
familial residence, claims as their own aviation legend
Wiley Post and several astronauts, including Thomas Stafford (who has a
museum in Weatherford) and Shannon Lucid (whose hometown, Bethany,
recognizes her on the sign coming into town). Here I collect pictures
concerning aviation in Oklahoma. Tinker
Air Force Base
Since 1940, Tinker has served as a large maintenance and production
depot. The most notable planes based at Tinker presently are the E-3
Sentry "AWACS" and KC-135R tankers.

There are a number of good plane
collections in the state of Oklahoma. In Oklahoma City, the Omniplex
science museum has a variety of interesting planes. Out west on I-40
(Historic Route 66), in Weatherford, a museum
honors local astronaut Thomas P. Stafford.
